We drive by the Gourmet Burger Shop in Gig Harbor every time we head out to the cabin. We were curious to try it out, especially after we learned that Ravensara (one of our favorite coffee shop/bakeries) makes their buns. Stopping for coffee at Ravensara last Sunday, we learned they’d just delivered a fresh batch of buns, so we followed the buns across the street for our inaugural lunch at Gourmet Burger. It was delicious, and we learned a new take on veggie burgers to boot.
The veggie burger option was basically two slabs of cooked, fried potatoes with bleu cheese and lots of condiments. It might sound a little odd, but once you taste it, you’ll love it. The cole slaw was rich, tangy, and crunchy. Just as coleslaw should be.
Melanie’s burger came with impossibly skinny fries, swiss cheese, and sautéed mushrooms. It was so rich we could only eat half a burger each. But, the brioche buns were amazing, and we’ll be back to try more burger types. So glad to have this restaurant on the Key Peninsula.
