These simple appetizers, foraged up from around our neighborhood, made a perfect pre-dinner snack. We’re huge fans of City Cellar Fine Wines on 45th street in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood, which is where we got the Thurston Wolfe Lemberger. The folks at City Cellar know their wines, they’re easy to talk to, and they have regular wine tastings. Dangerous.
The cheese – Crater Lake Blue Cheese from Rogue Creamery – is as pretty as it is delicious. The creamery says this is their most robust blue cheese, and the blue-green veins threaded through the cheese are striking.
Finally, saving the best for last, we must celebrate the pickled herring from University Seafood. I could drink the pickled herring juice, and the fish melts in your mouth. You can read more about our trip to University Seafood here. It’s one of our favorite Seattle fish markets, alongside Pike Place Market.
