This is our first year planting scarlet runner beans. And gosh, we’re glad we did. Not only do the plants make a beautiful green wall of lushness, but the hummingbirds love their brilliantly red flowers. And on top of all that, we get to eat the beans, too! Look how fun these are…
Little gem of red inside a green sleeve.
And now, the fun is coming up with a recipe to enjoy these new beauties. We’re planning to dry some of these beans, too, to save for the winter.
Thanks to our ever-vigilant garden manager, we’re having our best harvest ever. Don’t know what we’d do without her.

Wonderful! Do they keep their color after cooking?
They actually turn a beautiful new color when you cook them. We’re posting a recipe in the next few days with great photos (plus it’s delicious!)
I’ve never seen those! How beautiful, and I bet they are tasty too. Nice to meet the pup
Yes, Francis is the real star of the show. We have a whole menagerie of cats and dogs we’ll have to introduce to the blog.
