You Say Potato, We Say Chicago…

The Seattle FoodShed is headed to Chicago for the weekend. We’ll be cheering on the Seattle Reign FC as they take on the Chicago Red Stars in the season opener of the National Women’s Soccer League. Of course, we’ll be eating our way around town before Sunday afternoon’s game. Before we watch the Reign lay the smackdown on the unsuspecting Red Stars, do you have a classic Chicago spot we should check out?

Go Reign!
Go Reign!

So far we’ve had some great suggestions – the Sears tower, the Signature Room at the Hancock, the architecture in general, Hopleaf (mussels and beer), Gino’s for pizza … If you’ve got a suggestion, we’d love to hear it.

And if we’re super organized, we’ll be tweeting live from the game on Sunday, April 14th at 3pm Seattle time.

  1. For Italian, go to Rosebud on Rush or Topo Gigio. For Brunch try the Tavern on Rush.
I have family in Chicago and go there at least once a month. I’ll be there NEXT weekend. 🙂
Of course, if you can get into one of Rick Bayless’ restaurants (Frontera Grill) go there.
Let me know if you’re looking for something specific. There are SO many good restaurants.
Oh yes, RL restaurant on Ohio and Michigan for lunch in the bar!!
Gospel Brunch at the Hard Rock Cafe…

  2. Fun! Chicago is a great city. I’ve heard good things about Rosebud on Rush from locals, although I haven’t been there myself yet. I’d be curious to check out Little Goat Diner or Girl & the Goat, too.

  3. One more! If you want to get rude service while you eat diner food, you might want to try Ed Debevics. It’s their thing! I haven’t been there since college, but I remember being amused by it all.
