This is a simple dessert. Our friend Sara brought these sweet peaches back from the east side of Washington – Naches, outside Yakima. Fresh grilled peaches taste like the smoky essence of a late summer evening barbecue. They’re simplicity to make, and the perfect topping on a bowl of frozen yogurt. They taste lovely eaten indoors too, but are most special eaten beside the embers of a campfire.
Summertime means an abundance of sweet juicy peaches. Along with eating them for breakfast, we’re drinking them for evening cocktails. This vodka and peach drink tastes like sparkly sunshine.
Summer and peaches go together so perfectly. And, right now thyme is flowering away in the garden. Sounds like a summertime cocktail, if we ever heard of one!
The farmland outside Hillsboro, Oregon is verdant, lush, and picturesque. We visited a you-pick peach orchard an hour or two after sunrise to gather the last ripe peaches of the season.
